Sinossi / Synopsis

Un incontro con quindici Maestri in campi diversi della cultura, giunti felicemente alla loro stagione finale, disponibili ad essere ripresi mentre conversano sulle loro opere, sulla vecchiaia, sulla morte. Il risultato è uno scrigno che contiene immagini e parole rare e preziose. Un documento da tramandare. Gli incontri, semplici e informali, si svolgono nelle abitazioni – del grande attore, della poetessa famosa, dello scrittore prestigioso, dell’applaudito musicista - e prevedono tutti un input tale da mettere in moto un monologo che si trasforma in un dialogo tra tutti gli intervistati, i quali, ancorché carichi di anni, vicende, aneddoti e successi, evitano di soffermarsi su aspetti della propria lunga biografia, per riflettere, leopardianamente, sulla presente stagione “e viva, e il suon di lei”.

An encounter with fifteen masters in different branches of culture, who, having happily reached their final season, make themselves available to be filmed while they speak about their work, about old age, about death. The outcome is a chest containing rare images and precious words. A document to be passed on to posterity. The simple and informal chats take place in the homes – of the great actor, of the famous poet, of the successful writer, of the appreciated musician – and all bear an input to give start to a monologue, which turns into a dialogue among all the interviewed persons who, even if rich of years, anecdotes and success, skip the temptation to insist on aspects of their long biography and, with reference to Giacomo Leopardi, turn to consider "their present time, and its sound”.

Biografia del regista / Director Biography

(Termoli 25-03-1988) Inizia la sua carriera artistica in teatro entrando a far parte del gruppo di artisti romani della ERA DEA, di cui diventa attore e successivamente regista di numerose opere dal carattere sperimentale. La sua passione per il cinema documentaristico lo spinge alla regia di cortometraggi sulla musica degli anni ’60 e sulle storie di grandi registi e musicisti italiani, tra cui Gregoretti, Luttazzi e Lizzani. Nel 2015 avvia la lavorazione del documentario “Qualcosa Rimane” (2019): una serie di incontri con grandi artisti italiani tra cui Carla Fracci, Giorgio Albertazzi, Morando Morandini, Raffaele La Capria, Paolo Villaggio. Con quest'ultimo si instaura una particolare amicizia che porta D'Ascenzo a firmare un corto-doc dedicato interamente alla sua figura.

He opens his artistic career on the theatrical stage joining the group of artists that form the ERA DEA as actor and theatre director in several experimental works. His passion for documentary film pushes him to direct short docs focusing on the music of the ‘Sixties and on the thoughts and the stories of topmost Italian musicians and film directors, such as Gregoretti, Luttazzi and Lizzani. Since 2015 he has been working at the documentary “Something Remains” (2019): a series of encounters with great Italian artists including Carla Fracci, Giorgio Albertazzi, Morando Morandini, Raffaele La Capria, Paolo Villaggio. A special friendships starts with Villaggio, and this gives D’Ascenzo the inspiration to film a short-doc dedicated entirely to his figure: “Paolo Villaggio – Allafinfinfirifinfinfine”.
